1. Information We Collect
When you use YuSub, we may collect:
- Account data: Name, email, and profile photo from Google Sign-In
- Usage data: Videos translated, timestamps, and usage counts
- Payment data: Processed securely by Stripe; we do not store card details
- Technical data: IP address (for rate limiting only, not stored permanently)
2. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and improve the translation service
- To enforce usage quotas and prevent abuse
- To process payments and manage subscriptions
- To cache translations for faster repeated access
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.
3. Data Sharing
We share data only with the following service providers, solely for the purpose of operating YuSub:
- Anthropic (Claude API): Subtitle text is sent for translation. No personal data is included.
- Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe handles all card data under PCI DSS compliance.
- Firebase (Google): Authentication only.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.
4. Data Retention
- Translation cache: 7 days, then automatically deleted
- Usage records: 30 days
- Account data: Until you request deletion
- Payment records: As required by law (typically 7 years for tax purposes)
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Portability: Export your translation history
- Objection: Object to specific data processing activities

6. Cookies & Local Storage
We use browser localStorage to store your language preference and translation history locally on your device. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.
Firebase and Stripe may set their own cookies strictly for authentication and payment processing. These are essential cookies required for the service to function.
7. Security
We implement the following security measures:
- All communication encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
- Authentication tokens verified cryptographically (RS256)
- Payment data handled exclusively by Stripe (PCI DSS Level 1)
- Rate limiting and abuse prevention on all endpoints
While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
YuSub is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the service. Your continued use constitutes acceptance.
